WOMEX Top Label 2020

WOMEX (World Music Expo) has published their list of the 20 top world music recording labels of the year. Fonó is number two on the list of the best world music recording labels in the world. Fonó is the only label from the central and eastern European record market. Like last year, no other labels from the region made the list. Germany’s Glitterbeat is number one on the list this year.

Fonó has been on this list before, but this is the first time it earned such a prominent position! The list is born of the monthly favorites from two international world music top lists: World Music Charts Europe and Transglobal World Music Charts. The results reflect the opinions of 100 world music radio professionals. Those labels that have produced the best recordings and have shown up the most times on the monthly lists – are the ones who get onto the yearly list. The present 2020 list reflects the period between September 2019 and September 2020.
